How to Hook a Cricket for Fishing
By
Wayne Koepp
The correct way to hook a cricket is to thread the hook under the collar which is right behind the head. Turn the hook 180 degrees and stick the point of the hook into the cricket's rear end.
By hooking the cricket in this fashion, you will catch the light biters and those that suck the rear end of the cricket off the hook. I used a large hook painted red for illustration purposes. You will need to use a long shank number 10 or 12 hook. Put a small split shot about a foot up from the hook. Happy fishing. May all your fish be as long as your stories!
